If you're interested in online casino games, you've probably heard of Baccarat. Although it can seem complicated, baccarat is actually a fairly simple card game. In this article, you will learn more about baccarat and discover some strategies that can help you play the game with confidence and increase your chances of winning.

What is baccarat?

Baccarat is a card game played with 6 or 8 decks of 52 cards. The primary objective of the game is to guess who will come closest to 9 points, or if it becomes a tie. At the start, the banker deals two cards to both the player and himself. If one of the players achieves a total of 8 or 9 points, the game ends immediately, with whoever gets closest to 9 points (or has 9 points) being declared the winner.

Make sure you master the baccarat game rules first by reading our helpful blog posts: there you will find everything you need to know, from the basic rules to the complex rules related to the third card!

Betting options and payouts

The Baccarat table is divided into three sections; on the left side you can bet on the "player" (aka "Punto"), while on the right side bets are placed on the banker (aka "Banco"). In the middle of these two sections is also a "tie" area, where you can bet on an even score between the two sides.

If you make the right choice, you win next:

Baccarat strategies

While there is no guaranteed strategy that promises winnings or success in games of chance, we have a promising strategy you can give a try. You pay a 5% commission when you bet on the banker. This is not without reason, the banker has the highest chance of winning and because of this, the house edge is very low unless you play "draw" or other side bets.

For the three main bets, the house edge is as follows:

  • Banker: 1.06%

    • Player: 1.24%

      • Tie: 14.36%

"Banco" or Banker is one of the most popular bets and strategy for getting the most out of it in the long run.

        Alternative Baccarat strategies

There are also other strategies you can use in baccarat and you may already be familiar with these by checking out our Roulette strategies. You can also apply these very easily in baccarat, let's see how.

        • The Martingale strategy is one of the best strategies that is very well known in all online casino games. The Martingale strategy is based on doubling your bet every time you lose with the aim of recouping all the lost money with one lucky win. Beware, however, that you can lose a lot by doubling your bet each time, so set a fixed budget and keep yourself on track.

          • The opposite of the Martingale strategy is the Paroli system. This involves doubling your bet after every win. This is less aggressive and can be a good beginning strategy.

            • Another well-known strategy among casino players is the Fibonacci system. This strategy is based on the mathematical sequence in which the sum of the first two numbers forms the next number: 1,1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, and so on. Every time you lose, you increase your bet according to this sequence.

              • Finally, we have the Labouchere system, a slightly more complex strategy than the one above. In this, you first make a number sequence, say 1,2,3. The initial bet is determined by adding up the first and last numbers, in this case 4€ (1+2). If you win you repeat the same bet but if you lose you add the amount of the previous bet to the end of your number sequence: 1,2,3,4, so your next bet becomes 5€. If you win, you simply cross out the outer numbers.
