In the online casino world, Baccarat is a well-known game seen as a complicated card game. But actually, the game is very simple. We are going to simplify it for you in this article with a general game explanation and all kinds of tips and strategies. This will help you understand the game better and become familiar with it.

What is baccarat?

Baccarat is a popular table game that generally uses six or eight decks of cards. The primary goal of the game is to bet on who you believe will get closest to a total of 9 points between the player and banker. It could even be a draw, which pays much more but has lesser odds of course.

At the start, the banker deals two cards to the player and banker himself. If someone already has a total of 8 or 9 at the start, the game ends immediately and the person with the highest at 9 wins.

If both players have a value of 5 or lower, they draw a third and final card which determines fate. We elaborate on this in our blog on Baccarat's game rules, in which you will find all the necessary information about the game and its special rules.

Betting options and payouts

The Baccarat table is divided into three main betting options: player, banker and draw. The different variations of the game may involve additional bets, such as pair (same value) or perfect pair (same value and symbol). Always check the game rules and information before playing a game to know what these betting options mean.

If you make the right choice, you win next:

Baccarat strategies

While there is no guaranteed strategy that promises winnings or success in games of chance, we have a promising strategy you can give a try. You pay a 5% commission when you bet on the banker. This is not without reason, the banker has the highest chance of winning and because of this, the house edge is very low unless you play "draw" or other side bets.

For the three main bets, the house edge is as follows:

  • Banker: 1.06%

    • Player: 1.24%

      • Tie: 14.36%

"Banco" or Banker is one of the most popular bets and strategy for getting the most out of it in the long run.

        Alternative Baccarat strategies

There are a few strategies that you may be familiar with if you read about our article about the different Roulette strategies. These strategies can be used for baccarat as well!

        • The Martingale strategy is well-known across all online casino games. It implies doubling your bet following a loss and winning it back with a lucky round. Be careful of the risks associated with this method, since it may result in losses that prevent you from doubling up. Set a limit for yourself when it comes to gambling and stick to a budget.

          • The Paroli system is a good way to change up your gameplay. This strategy involves doing the exact opposite of the last one—doubling your wager after winning. This tactic adopts a passive mindset, which works well for starting players.

            • The Fibonacci system is predicated on a mathematical sequence where the next number is equal to the sum of the first two. Think of the numbers 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, and so forth. With this strategy, every time you lose a game, you have to raise your wager.

              • Finally, we have the Labouchere system, a slightly more complex strategy than the above. In this, you first make a number sequence, for example 1,2,3. The initial bet is determined by adding up the first and last numbers, in this case 4€ (1+2). If you win you repeat the same bet but if you lose you add the amount of the previous bet to the end of your number sequence: 1,2,3,4, so your next bet becomes 5€. On a win, you simply cross out the outer numbers.
